Trimethoprim can inhibit renal tubular secretion of Creatinine and raise its serum levels without increase in BUN. but also remember
Sulfamethoxazole plus trimethopirm (Bactrim in USA) can also cause deranged BUN and Creatinine by following two ways...
1) Allergic interstitial nephritis (urine will have eosinophils also Joint pains and Rash will be present)
2) Crystalluria and tubular necrosis (Urine will have crystals)
Both of these effects are due to sulpha component and not trimethoprim
